Artbeat Gets More Real Than Life

NGV Artbeat recently hosted an evening at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne's well-known contemporary art complex of gallery spaces and studio facilities.

Following a welcome by Gallery Director Max Delany, guest curator Alexie Glass gave Artbeat members and guests an intimate guided tour of the exhibition, Octopus 4: More Real Than Life.

Inspired by the proliferation of reality television programs, the exhibition consisted of works across a variety of media that explored various aspects of the modern being; our dreams, consumption, longings, fantasies, insecurities, sex, bodies, and desires.

Afterwards guests were granted unique behind the scenes access to Gertrude's studio spaces to explore and meet Gertrude's artists-in-residence.
