Breaking The Winter Drought
The winter drought was well and truly broken on Friday 13 June 2003 at The NGV Artbeat
'Break the Winter Drought' cocktail party - the second major event since NGV Artbeat's official
launch in April 2003.
Celebrating the opening of the Sidney Nolan:
Desert and Drought exhibition, over 300 NGV Artbeat members and their guests shared
in a truly memorable evening under the spectacular Dome at 333 Collins Street.
Guest speaker and exhibition curator, Geoffrey Smith, provided an introduction to the
- unique collection of Nolan works; on show at NGV Australia at Federation Square until August 2003.

Guests were treated to the finest food and service from the acclaimed chefs and staff at Strozzi
and Il Solito Posto restaurants; and clamored for a taste of delicious oysters from Clamms,
not to mention the
highly popular 'Seriously… Sidney Sours' vodka cocktails - created specially for the event.
Others enjoyed fine Yarra Ridge wines, Crown Lager, Sterling Light, Sanpellegrino, Yellowglen
and the latest addition to Australia's number one sparkling brand, Yellowglen 'Pink'. All
the while enjoying the tunes of DJ Grant Smilie. Congratulations to the door
